Professor Philip Lowe OBE, Director, is a leading figure in the development of interdisciplinary rural studies in the UK. Philip holds the Duke of Northumberland Chair of Rural Economy at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. He is a Board member of the Countryside Agency, and a member of the Science Advisory Council of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. He was appointed OBE in 2003 for his contribution to the rural economy.

Jeremy Phillipson, Assistant Director, is a social scientist with expertise in rural economy and natural resource management. Jeremy is an experienced research manager who has run various European and interdisciplinary research programmes.

Anne Liddon, Science Communications Manager, is a communications professional with many years' experience in the public sector.
